BODY MECHANICS EDUCATION

Learning to perform activities with proper body mechanics is an important part of not only your road to recovery, but also a way to help minimize and/or prevent future injury. Being strong and flexible is essential to good physical function, yet these qualities alone will not help one avoid exacerbation or the start of a condition if you don’t understand how activities can be potentially aggravating.

Below are handouts of guidelines on how to perform some common activities with proper body mechanics; they can be printed for review/daily use. These are general guidelines and may not apply to you specifically, therefore an evaluation is recommended in order to provide the most appropriate advice for you.
