About Alyssa

My unique approach to physical therapy combines my background in neuroscience, Chinese martial arts, and the skills I have learned in physical therapy through my education and experience. Throughout my career, I have sought out opportunities for continuing education and self-growth including taking classes that promote whole body function and awareness such as Therapeutic Tai Chi, Revolutionary Yoga Rehabilitation: The Science of Recovery & Restoration, Selective Functional Movement Assessment, and Postural Restoration Institute: Myokinematic Restoration. I am trained in management of post-concussion syndrome and I am certified in Reiki and Graston techniques. My approach involves a combination of manual therapy, exercise instruction, and education on the importance of self-awareness (proprioception) through improving brain body synergy.
While at Tufts Medical School, I started kung fu, a Chinese martial art, and became acutely aware of how important physicality is in my life, and career. This new knowledge helped push me to change my career and apply to physical therapy school. Kung fu has helped me appreciate the awesome capabilities of the human body, as well as the importance of hard work, mental focus, and the strong connection between mind and body.

I have been a physical therapist since 2009 after graduating from the MGH Institute of Health Professions with my Doctorate of Physical Therapy. Over the past 12 years, I have worked in both the inpatient/acute care and outpatient settings. I have developed a vast amount of experience, knowledge, and skills treating many complex conditions and patient populations. I graduated from New York University in 2003 with a Bachelor of Science in neuroscience, after which I spent 3 years working in a developmental neurobiology lab at Tufts Medical School.

When I'm not working or exercising, I enjoy spending time with my husband Tony, my German Shepherd Enzo, and my rabbits Salt & Pepper.
